Warriors Don’t Cry by Melba Pattillo Beals

This book was assigned a couple of days ago in my English class. Of course, me being the bookworm I am, I read it in four days instead of the planned 3 weeks. I absolutely loved it. This is a memoir about integration at Little Rock, Arkansas, and is by one of the Little Rock Nine. This book describes what Melba went through and what her family had to go through. It also describes the threats, beatings, and stress she went through just to go to school. This book was great, well written, and really shows what happened.

In this book, there were offensive and racist words, but were used because they were actually said to her and were used in this time period. I think this book is best for ages 13+ because of those words, an attempted rape, and other things done during this time period.
